2014 FIAT 500e

The upcoming electric version of the FIAT 500 -the 2014 FIAT 500e- subcompact has earned a US government fuel-economy equivalent rating or MPGe, of 108 miles per gallon.
The rating is based on measurements and a formula used to determine how many miles electric vehicles travel on a unit of battery-generated electricity that contains with the same amount of energy as a gallon of gasoline.

EPA tests also determined the 500e has a range of about 87 miles on a full charge. Its estimated cost to power the car is $500, compared with $600 for the electric Nissan Leaf and $1,000 for a Toyota Prius... impressive.

The estimate is based on electricity price projections and 15,000 miles of travel at the car’s combined mileage rating for city and highway driving. The Fiat 500e has a combined rating of 116-MPGe city/highway rating. Its city rating is 122 MPGe.

The 2014 FIAT 500e is scheduled to arrive in dealerships in California in the second quarter of 2013...
